Geotail

An instrument on Chandrayaan2 named CLASS (Chandrayaan-2 Large Area Soft X-ray Spectrometer) has detected charged particles present on the moon soil during the orbiter’s passage through the “Geotail”.

These charged particles on the surface of the moon can help understand the complex interaction of these particles with the magnetic field.

Geotail region exists as a result of the interactions between the Solar wind and Earth’s magnetic field that obstructs its passage creating a magnetic envelope around Earth, called the magnetosphere= ~3-4 times the Earth radius (~22000 km above the surface) on the side facing the Sun, but is stretched into a long tail (geotail) on the opposite side that goes beyond the orbit of Moon. Approximately, once every 29 days, Moon traverses the geotail for about 6 days centered around full moon.

CLASS is to map the abundance of major rockforming elements on the lunar surface using the technique of X-ray fluorescence during solar flare events.

India-China 2nd Informal SummitMamallapuram Summi

Mamallapuram, Tamil Nadu was chosen as the venue for the second informal summit between India and China, as the town had trade and cultural links with Quanzhou, a port city in Fujian province where Xi once served as governor.

There was a reference to Bodhi-Dharma who had left the shores of India from Tamil Nadu and went by sea and took Zen Buddhism to China and Japan

President Xi has urged both countries to take the 70th anniversary of their diplomatic relations in 2020 as an opportunity to conduct broader and deeper cultural and people-to-people exchanges and has invited PM Modi to visit China for the 3rd Informal Summit to be held next year
